Alicia Keys last had an album in stories in December of 2012, and in the years since that release, the Grammy Award-winning Girl On Fire LP, fans have been clamoring for the return of the multi-faceted singer, songwriter and pianist.
That return came late last week, when Keys dropped her new, dancehall-ready single “In Common,” which finds the New York native channeling her inner-Caribbean persona for a welcomed return to the airwaves. Last night, just a couple days after the release of the song, Keys took to the Saturday Night Live stage to perform her new banger, which will likely experience considerable chart success, possibly immediately. We’ve already seen dancehall-inspired songs like Rihanna‘s “Work,” which is arguably the biggest hit of 2016 thus far, andDrake‘s “One Dance,” which is currently the #2 song in the country, rule the charts this year, so “In Common” certainly has a bright future.
