SABC 1 new drama series – Tjovitjo has managed to do the most by pulling in millions of viewers during its debut.
The first episode managed to attract over 5.7-million viewers in its first week, TshisaLIVE reports. The series has now set a viewership record, surpassing shows like Yizo Yizo and Zone 14.
SABC 1 programmes manager Sane Zondi told TshisaLIVE ;
“You can benchmark against previous drama series like Yizo Yizo which attracted around 3-million viewers. TSHISA pulled about 4.7-million and Zone 14 up to 4.5-million viewers. All of these were on SABC1. So in a way‚ SABC 1 sets and breaks its own records.”
‘Tjovitjo’ is about the lives of a group of dancers, amatjovitjo trained in the classical dance style of SePantsula. The cast includes Warren Masemola, Lali Dangazela, Soso Rungqu, Rapulana Seiphemo, Harreit Manamela and more.
