There is no person in the National Democratic Congress (NDC) who can match up to Dr. Mahamadu Bawumia, this is according to Alexander Kwamina Afenyo-Markin, Member of Parliament (MP) for the Efutu Constituency in the Central Region.
The legislator’s comment was in reaction to an assertion made by Sammy Gyamfi, the National Communications Officer for the NDC that the Vice President has been engaged in deceit and entertaining Ghanaians with his comments.
Gyamfi said, “I thought with respect to him, Dr. Bawumia has been engaging in entertainment with his assertions. Ghanaians are discerning and you won’t get away with these lies.”
But speaking on Joy fm’s news analysis programme over the weekend, the Efutu MP, who is also the Board Chairman of the Ghana Water Company Limited (GWCL) said the Vice President has been putting out only facts for people to know the record of the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) government as against that of the NDC.

He asked the largest opposition party to desist from propaganda and wake up to the reality and present their running mate for the next general election.
“What the Vice President did was to explain issues. Obviously, we know who is doing entertainment in this country. We are waiting for your (NDC) Vice President who will be running with your candidate. Nobody in NDC can match up to the prowess of Dr. Bawumia, Afenyo-Markin stated.
He emphasized that the 2020 presidential and parliamentary elections are going to be determined by facts and that the NPP stands tall when it comes to achievements notwithstanding the fact that they have been in government less than three years as against NDC’s eight years of Mills-Mahama administration.
The legislator further stated, “Free Senior High School (SHS), we promised and we have delivered, is it not a fact? NABCO, the restoration of teacher and nursing training allowance…haven’t we delivered and several other developments in other sectors.”
Ghana will hold a general election in December 2020 to either renew the mandate of the sitting president, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo or reject him for the NDC’s returnee presidential candidate, John Mahama.
The sitting president has indicated Dr. Bawumia, whom he trusts so much will be partnering him to seek a second term in office from Ghanaians.
The largest opposition party, even though have already elected the country’s immediate past president, John Dramani Mahama as their candidate, he is however yet to announce who will be partnering him in next year’s polls.
The election, many political connoisseurs believe is going to be keenly contested as it is going to be between two people who have already contested each other before in two presidential elections with both having won once.
The outcome of the presidential election and who takes control in the country’s legislative body is, however, going to be fought on records as Ghanaians have had the opportunity of witnessing the Mills-Mahama, Mahama-Amissah-Arthur as against Akufo-Addo-Bawumia administrations.
