In the area of entertainment and events, many shows, programs and conferences have had to be cancelled; again to prevent the further spread of the novel corona virus.
Charter House, organizers of the biggest annual awards event for musicians in the country, the Vodafone Ghana Music Awards had to cancel all their activities that involve mass gatherings. Prior to the awards, they organize nominee jams across the country but they had to be cancelled. They have gone on further to reschedule the date for the awards maintaining that it has not been “cancelled”.

Other events have also been affected as most of them have had to be cancelled due to the fact that they will be involving huge numbers of people. Some of these programs include the annual SpringBoard Roadshow organized by ‘Legacy and Legacy’ and the ‘SpringBoard Roadshow Foundation’. The roadshow, which is a human capital building initiative run by Reverend and Mrs. Albert and Comfort Ocran for over a decade had already made stops in Kumasi and Cape Coast. The Global event which was the summit of the roadshow was to be held in the dome of the Accra International Conference Center, today, 21st March, 2020. In a statement released Monday, organizers of the event said the cancellation was in line with measures taken by Government of Ghana to limit the potential spread of Covid-19 in Ghana.
Other major events that have had to be cancelled include the Church of Pentecost’s annual Easter convention. This was revealed by the the chairman of the Church of Pentecost in an address to the church on Tuesday March 17th. The annual Kwahu Easter Celebrations have also been cancelled.

Earlier, the first lady, Rebecca Akuffo-Addo also announced the cancellation of a slated High level International Women’s Day event that was slated to come off on Friday, 13th March, 2020. The International Central Gospel cancelled its annual ‘Life Walk’; a charity health walk aimed at raising funds to support mental health in Ghana.
In sports, the country’s top football league, the Ghana Premier League like other leagues around the world has also had to be cancelled. The last round of fixtures were played on Sunday.
