Atletico Madrid Academy coach Alfredo Santaelena has reiterated that senior team manager Diego Simeone believes in Ghanaian midfielder Thomas Partey.
Santaelena who handled Partey in the youth team of the Rojiblancos stressed that the Ghanaian has fought for his place in the team and is one of the key elements the manager looks up to.
“What’s happening now is that he’s moved up the hierarchy in the team thanks to his experience. Despite being young, he’s already one of the veterans of the squad. And therefore, he also knows the trust that Cholo has in him. Thomas has earned it,” Santaelena told Marca.
“He’s stood out in the last few games. The reverse passes that he played against Real Madrid and Lokomotiv [were executed so well] because he’s very good technically.”
Partey was adjudged the man of the match last week in the Madrid derby against Real and also scored against Locomotive Moscow in the Champions League in midweek.
