The bridge, which linked them to Happy Home, Haasto and Boshye communities was destroyed following the devastating rainfall that hit Accra and its environs on Monday.
Vehicular movements are seriously affected, schoolchildren who commute to other towns for classes now have to resort to long alternative routes to their destinations, affecting their classes’ hours.
The bridge, according to residents was a death trap before it collapsed.
“We were even afraid of using it as it was at a near collapse, now it has been destroyed by heavy rainfall. We can’t go to the market to trade. Even some school children are at home because they cannot swim to go to school. Those who use long alternative routes also come at a cost,” a resident told Ghanaquest.com
