The president’s late night address a week ago, was clear that all public gatherings with the exception of some few ones like markets and supermarkets considered as businesses had been put on hold.
Not finding itself in the caveat of groups in the category of “businesses”, schools had to follow the directives and close down. For the first time in the history of the country, an epidemic has threatened so much that this has to happen. Many have expressed their concerns on how this is something wholly new that has not been experienced before.
One would expect that with things getting to this point, all and sundry will feel sad about the “stale” weeks that are ahead.
Whiles some religious leaders raised concerns about the order which affects them, the news rather came as a good one for many students in schools across the country as they jubilated and “hailed” the pandemic for what one would call a “relief” it seems to have brought them.

One measure that has been emphasized over and over again is for everyone to avoid public gatherings. This is to help reduce the risk of contracting the disease.
Students in tertiary institutions across the country were captured having the fun of the moment. This Monday came as one that promised nothing but a totally free day away from the normal busy routine of lectures, classes and group meetings for many. The days went by and the weekend is finally here. How have students and the general citizenry enjoyed the first free week of the four weeks timeline?
Most students who interacted with ghanaquest.com seemed to be singing a similar chorus; “boring”.
For Sarfo, a student of the Ghana Institute of Journalism, is a double-edged affair; both good and bad. “It has been restful and I have more time to prepare for assignments given us. The new way of learning has been interesting and weird but feasible [e-learning] through telegram and google classroom. It’s different but I think it is helpful and as an institution we can use it for academic purposes even after this pandemic” he said.

Another student thinks its fun for her because she gets to watch TV and listen to radio programs she finds interesting adding “and boring because I don’t get to see and talk to friends”
For Sarah, it’s been good because she has been able to use the time to catch up on assignments but misses her friends. “It’s going well using the time to catch up on stuffs that I haven’t done and working on assignments. I miss my friends from church and school” she said. For Raphael however, its has just been like incarceration. “The week has been boring since Sunday till now. I can’t go out and everything is like being in a prison”
Whiles, we are going to stay indoors for sometime, how will the coming days be like? Ghanaquest.com will keep you posted on that.
