Christopher Demanya (Dechris) has won the Asante Kotoko’s National Circles Council (NCC) Chairman post after the election in Kumasi on Saturday.
The Accra-based businessman polled 209 votes out of 329 valid votes cast in the election held at the club secretariat in Kumasi. His competitor, Solomon Ofosu-Ware (Chairman Solo) attracted 118 votes.
This is the first time a non-Kumasi resident is taking over the top seat of the parent body of the club’s official supporters group, Circles.
“I thank you all for the confidence reposed in me”, he said. “I also thank and commend Chairman Solo for pulling 118 votes even though he joined the contest very late. It is clear that I do not have an overwhelming majority and therefore would not be complacent. This means that I have to work hard to win over Chairman Solo’s supporters.”
