An Accra Circuit Court has today, Tuesday, April 21, 2020, fined six persons GHS14,400 (1,200 charge systems) each for violating the constraints legislation.
As part of initiatives to curb the spread of the Coronavirus in Ghana, the government placed a ban on public events and partially lockdown down the Greater Accra as well as Kumasi Metropolis.
The 6 who are all males according to the cops violated the directive and also attended a party on the 18th of April 2020.
In default, the 6 convicts will each offer 5 years in prison.
All the 6 begged guilty to conspiracy not to abide by restriction laws imposed by the Imposition of Restrictions Act, 2020 (Act 1012) and also failing to adhere to Act 1012 which is meant to stop the spresd of Coronavirus
In the evidence presented to the court by the prosecution, the 6 became part of about fifty individuals that went to the celebration at Teshie, First Joint.
Concerning the apprehension
According to authorities, they (authorities) went to the venue upon secret information and also managed to detain the 6 people who required their heels together with the other persons at the celebration.
Providing her judgment, the judge Efia Owusua Appiah explained her decision is to serve as a deterrent to other people.
