President Akufo-Addo, has suspended indefinitely all foreign travels for all government officials, as part of measures by government to prevent the outbreak of the Coronavirus (COVID-19) in the country.
As a way to fight coronavirus, a statement issued by the Chief of Staff at the Office of the President, Akosua Frema Osei-Opare, and addressed to all sector Ministers and their deputies, Regional Ministers and their deputies, all Metropolitan, Municipal, and District Chief Executives, and all Heads of Government Agencies, the Chief of Staff stressed that only essential and critical foreign travels will be considered and, thereafter, approved.
“The directive, together with other measures being put in place by the government, is intended to protect the general public from contracting the virus. Please take note and ensure compliance,” the statement added.
According to reports, there are a total of 90,936 confirmed cases worldwide – although more than half of those (47,995) have already recovered.
The biggest numbers are still by far in mainland China (80,151), followed by South Korea (4,812), Italy (2,036) and Iran (1,501).

Ten African countries have so far recorded at least 80 coronavirus cases.
Egypt (48), Algeria (17) and Nigeria (2) Tunisia (2), Togo (1), Cameroon (2), Morocco (2), South Africa (3), Senegal (4) and Burkina Faso (2) are the cases so far.
The continent has also recorded its first Coronavirus death n Egypt, where the first case on the continent was also confirmed.
