Daily Businesses routine for most traders in Ghana took a nosedive when Ghana recorded it first case of the globally affected coronavirus pandemic.
Business activities this week will slow further as the Accra Metropolitan Assembly, A.M.A will begin a fumigation exercise of markets in Accra today March 23, 2020 to guard against the novel coronavirus pandemic’s spread in Ghana.
This is part of the nationwide disinfestation of public spaces to control the virus by the A.M.A under the authority of the government.
The Minister for Local Government and Rural Development, Hajia Alima Mahama, said this decision was arrived at in consultation with the market women.

“They have all agreed on Monday and I was happy. They all see that there is expediency in the matter and we have to do it quick… in Greater Accra, markets will be closed on Monday,” she said to the media.
This action has become necessary after the Ghana Health Service confirmed 3 new coronavirus cases on March 22, 2020, taking Ghana’s total cases to 24.
However normal business activities are expected to continue from Tomorrow Tuesday March 24, 2020.
