In the said press conference, Sammy Gyamfi on behalf of the NDC argued that President Akuffo-Addo and the NPP government had failed in their fight against illegal mining. They believe that instead of the NPP fighting the menace as promised, they had rather turned to making it a venture for making money for their party.
This, he says, has caused the massive degradation of lands and water bodies which has resulted in many negative results like the outbreak of skin diseases in communities along major rivers like the Pra which has been polluted by Galamsey. He also mentioned the amount of money that has gone into purification of water and other matters that he vbelieves shows the inability of the Akuffo-Addo government in fighting against Galamsey.
