Vice Chancellor of the George Grant University of Mines and Technology, Prof. J.S.Y Kuma (UMAT) has revealed that the school will be introducing some new degrees and courses which includes engineering program in Railways.
According to him, the new program in Railways Engineering will begin in the 2021/2022 Academic Year.
“It is for this and many other reasons that there are several inquiries and applications by prospective students who are eager to enroll in this school. Hon. Minister, Nananom, Distinguished ladies and gentlemen, for the 2020/2021 academic year, the programs that will be run in the school are BSc Mechanical Engineering, BSc Electricals/Electronics Engineering, BSc Computer Science and Engineering, BSc Geological Engineering, BSc Geomatic Engineering, BSc Environmental and Safety Engineering and I will like to inform Nananom that the BSc and Diploma in Railways Engineering and other engineering programs will commence from the 2021/2022 academic year.

The vice chancellor also hinted the addition of more certificate courses to their bouquet of programs offered in the school.
“Top notch courses in management will also be added in due course starting with certificate programs and then upgrading to diploma and degree programs. Additionally, certificate programs in workshop practice, both mechanical and electrical will soon be mounted”
The school in doing this according to Prof. Kuma will do well to maintain a strong partnership with the community as is the best to do in maintaining the success of the programs
“I will like to assure you that UMAT will do everything possible to carry out the tenets of this collaboration. Hon. Minister, Nananom, distinguished ladies and gentlemen, the importance of this treaty with our stakeholders, especially, the chiefs and people of this community (Essikad-Ketan) will not be over-emphasized” he said
He further adds that the school is ready and willing to work with people from the community with the necessary expertise to support the school in attaining success in the railways program.
