The NDC’s parliamentary candidate for Ayawaso West Wuogon, John Dumelo, is using a total of GHS 200,000 as interest-free loans to small businesses in his constituency to restore their incomes which have been negatively affected by the COVID-19 pandemic.
John Dumelo, who is hoping to go into the Parliament house on the ticket of the NDC, made this known in a Facebook post on Wednesday, 22 March 2020.
Following the government’s 21-day partial lockdown troubled Kasoa, Greater Accra and Greater Kumasi, small-scale business operators had to suspend their trading activities.
John Dumelo explained that As an entrepreneur and a farmer, I comprehend what it means to have low or no harvest and have also experienced opening shops and making no sales. The COVID-19 crisis, including the lockdown, has actually adversely affected many businesses in the Ayawaso West Constituency.
“To the coconut and roasted plantain sellers, the corner shops, the tabletop retail outlets, the evening kenkey, bread/egg, waakye and vegetable sellers and all those who work hand-to-mouth to take care of their families, hope is coming,”
He added that: “I am offering a total of GHS200,000 emergency loans (0 percent) interest to all those mentioned…”
The MP-aspirant, even more, added: “The modalities for accessing the plan will be communicated directly” to the recommended category of persons.
