Ace journalist and managing editor of the Daily Dispatch Newspaper, Mr. Ben Ephson has expressed as “not a smart move” by the National Democratic Congress (NDC) to boycott the Kokrokoo Morning Show as it officially announced in a press release yesterday.
According to him, the show is a platform which has a large audience the NDC needs to reach, thus a boycott of the show only gives way for a one-sided story to be told.
Speaking on an Accra-based fm station, Mr. Ephson explained that the suspension of Mr. Bernard Allotey Jacobs who happens to be the former central regional chairman of the party does not mean an end of his political career as he has more political years ahead of him in addition to being a vibrant politician.

Giving a background to what has been described as anti-party conduct of Mr. Allotey Jacobs, the pollster traced it to the former NDC’s chairs close ties with then president Atta-Mills and the presidency which was cut short after the former president’s death. According to him, his side-lining after Prof. Mills’ death ,might have been a cause of this turn he’s accused of to have taken.
Background
Hours after his regular Wednesday appearance on the Kokrokoo Morning show yesterday, a letter signed by the national chairman of the party Mr. Samuel Ofosu Ampofo to Mr. Allotey Jacobs indicated his suspension from the party. According to the party he is suspended over his ” persistent anti-party conduct”.
That same day, a presser signed by the communications director of the party, Mr. Sammy Gyamfi, announced the boycotting of the said morning show platform due to “the unfair paneling system that the Production Team of that program has continuously foisted on the NDC over a number of months”.

The release went on to add; “Specifically, the reason for this boycott has to do with the unreasonable decision of the Producers and Host of the program to permanently reserve one (1) of the two (2) slots the party has traditionally had on Wednesdays on the show to Mr. Allotey Jacobs, who is often introduced by the host of the program as a “Social Commentator with strong leanings to the NDC”, ostensibly to spite the NDC”
On the same edition of the show, host Kwame Sefa Kayi revealed he had been contacted by the party made a request for him to bar Allotey Jacobs from appearing on the platform or stand a risk of the action they took. He explained however that he insisted on making Mr. Allotey Jacobs appear on the platform nevertheless.
