Lawyer Philip Addison has been disqualified from contesting the Akuapem North seat ahead of the April; 25, NPP primaries.
Philip Addison who to most Ghanaians became known as a result of the famous 2012 election petition, was hoping to unseat incumbent MP and deputy Minister for Information Nana Ama Dokua Asiamah Adjei only to be disqualified on the grounds that he “hasn’t nurtured the party at the constituency level”.
Lawyer Philip Addison in his first attempt to enter Parliament lost the Korle Klottey seat to Dr Zenator Rawlings of the NDC in 2016 election.
Also at the vetting, William Agyei Twumasi, who is the Bursar of Presbyterian College of Education, Akropong was also disqualified for allegedly using the party’s logo fraudulently for his own health insurance other than the national health insurance.

Furthermore, the vetting panel discovered that Lawyer Philip Addison and William Agyei Twumasi had started campaigning openly before nominations were opened, which is in breach of the rules governing the upcoming elections.
The disqualification of the duo will see the incumbent MP, Nana Ama Dokua to go unopposed if they do not appeal the decision of the vetting committee.
Meanwhile, the incumbent NPP party has formed a three-member committee to be chaired by board chairman of SSNIT, Dr. Kwame Addo Kuffour, Peter Mac Manu and Cecilia Abena Dapaah to address concerns of any aspirant who may have aggrievances when disqualified by the vetting committee.
