Acting general secretary of the convention party, Mr. James Kwabena Bomfeh has called on men of God to keep prophecies of who will elections like parliamentary and presidential discreet.
Speaking at a press conference held by the party on Wednesday, he was worried that prophecies declaring particular people or parties as winners for elections was becoming a trend adding that it was a potential threat to the security of the country.
“We are talking against ministers who prophesy on who will win or loose elections. These are issues which are discreet and must be kept as such” he said.
Making a diagnosis of the situation, Mr. Bomfeh said it looked like some people were hiding behind prophecies to fuel party and individual agendas saying “if we continue to listen to these things, they will only spur us on to reject results that will be declared after elections”, something he describes as a gateway to violence if care is not taken.
Background
For some years now, the declaration of prophecies as to happenings in an impending year has been making waves either before or after the year ends. This seems to have become the trend where some men of God reveal these prophecies that span from celebrations to deaths and other tragedies which usually flood various social media platforms.
This year has been no different as some of these prophecies have made airwaves once more. Chief amongst them has been concerns raised by some members of the public on predictions made as to who will win the impending presidential elections in 2020.
According to some reports cited by Ghanaquest.com, Rev. Owusu Bempah who is the founder and leader of the Glorious Word Power Ministry International and has been making airwaves with his prophecies over the years said that this year, the incumbent new patriotic party will retain power but will not come easy. He also said there were plans to kill the electoral commissioner, Madam Jean Mensa and others.
On the other hand another prophet, Nigel Gaisie of the Prophetic Hill Chapel in spelling out prophecies for the coming years said that in the forthcoming elections, there was the possibility of former president John Dramani Mahama winning with about 52.1 percent of total votes. He also prophesied about the possible manipulation of the Togolese political system by the sitting president, Faure Gnassingbe.
