The Minister of Health, Kwaku Agyeman Manu, says government is yet to decide on whether to evacuate Ghanaian students in China.

According to him, the government was monitoring the situation before it finally makes a decision.
A statement, signed and issued, by the minister said “in all of government’s deliberations with the WHO, West African Health Organisation and the US Centre for Disease Control, evacuation is yet to be recommended.”
It, however, said government was monitoring the situation and would trigger its evacuation plans if necessary.
“Government is concerned about the health of Ghanaian citizens in China, especially students, and is working round the clock to ensure their protection, safety, and wellbeing, and advise Ghanaians to delay non-essential travels to China.”
Earlier in the week, the Minority in Parliament charged the government to evacuate Ghanaian students in China as soon as possible
Minority Spokesperson on Foreign Affairs and MP for North Tongu, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, urged the government to bring home the students or evacuate them to a much safer region in China.
“The World Health Organisation (WHO) has advised countries to evacuate their nationals and quarantine them for 21 days, just as Nigerian, Tunisia, France etc…. we can simply do same by following the WHO rules,” he said.
