Late Ebony Reigns is set to become the reigning ‘Artiste of the year’ for 3 years in a row.
We all expected someone to claim the baton from her in 2019 but then the scuffle between Shatta Wale and Stonebwoy at the awards night caused the VGMA board not to declare the winner for that year.
This made Ebony to hold unto the mantle for 2 good years.
Yet again, this year 2020, all was set for VGMA 2020 only for Coronavirus to come in.
As it stands, we were all expecting the virus to subside soon so that things can get back to normal but it keeps getting severe as the days go by.
Social gatherings of any sort have been banned. And ideally, VGMA could hold the awards behind closed doors and announce the winners.
But we all know how ‘money-minded’ the awards scheme is, so the only choice they’ll have is to postpone this year’s award to next year.
And that’ll mean Ebony Reigns would reign as the VGMA Artiste of the Year for 3 good years.

Ebony Reigns was killed instantly in a traffic collision on 8 February 2018 whilst returning from Sunyani to Accra after a visit to her mother. Her assistant and longtime friend Franklina Yaa Nkansah Kuri and soldier Atsu Vondee were also killed in the fatal accident.
