The Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) is blaming Monday’s power outage in most parts of Accra on a technical challenge from the Ghana Grid Company Limited (GRIDCo).
In a statement, the Electricity Company of Ghana explained “that the outage being experienced in parts of Accra and other ECG operational areas is due to a technical challenge from GRIDCo”.
While apologizing for the inconvenience caused, ECG assured that the power supply will be restored to the affected areas once the glitches are resolved.
“Customers should please note that power supply will be restored to all affected areas immediately GRIDCo rectifies the situation. The inconvenience caused bu this technical challenge from GRIDCo is deeply regretted.”
Areas such as Adabraka, Lapaz, North Kaneshie, Osu are some of the areas in Accra affected by Monday’s blackout.
Meanwhile, The Ghana Grid Company has apologized for the widespread power outages that hit parts of the country on Saturday, March 14.
GRIDCo attributed the blackout to a disturbance on its system.
“The Ghana Grid Company (GRIDCo) wishes to inform the general public that at 8:53 pm on Saturday, March 14, 2020, a system disturbance on its 330KV line led to some intermittent power outages in parts of the country,” the power transmission company explained in a statement.

It said the affected areas included parts of the Volta, Greater Accra, Eastern, Northern and Ashanti Regions.
“GRIDCo apologises for any inconvenience caused and remains committed to its mandate of delivering reliable power supply,” the company added in a statement.
