Legal practitioner, Kwame Ntow Fianko, has described the job done so far by the Ghana Football Association (GFA) Normalisation Committee as “comedian’s work.”
The Normalisation Committee, as part of normalising the game in Ghana, has amended the Football Association’s statutes. The final draft has been approved by FIFA.
The Committee is expected to meet stakeholders and publish what is in the new statutes, as well as open nominations for elections.
But, according to Mr Fianko, the Committee is just joking and has been misled and is now beating about the bush.
The former Division One League Board Chairman, who is highly respected in Ghana Football as far as laws governing the game are concerned, said amending only the statutes means nothing because the day-to-day activities of the GFA are not run by statutes.
“So if somebody says he is going to amend status, it is out of place; because the day-to-day activities of Ghana football are not run by status but rather, under the provisions of the GFA General Regulations which are articles 1 to 44.
“Once the Normalisation Committee doesn’t know what it is about and is being lied to by wrong advice, its work is bound to fail from the beginning,” he told Kwadwo Mensah Moshosho on Asempa FM.
The Normalisation Committee is expected to wrap up its activities by September 30, 2019 as per its stipulated mandate given by FIFA.
