Ghana Education Service has denied rumors that about importing new school uniforms for students at the JHS level.
GES claims is, the story is baseless and has no merit whatsoever, adding that the new clothes are available on the open market.
The PRO for the Service, Cassandra Twum Ampofo in a signed statement iterated that the Ghana Education Service has neither imported nor contracted any individual, either locally or internationally, to bring in new uniforms for pupils.
“It will be recalled that in April this year, the Director-General of the Ghana Education Service introduced a sample of the new uniform and its design to the media. The Director-General urhed parents to access these clothes from the open market as it has been with the current uniform,” the statement made available to The Ghana Report reads.
The statement adds that the old uniforms will be phased out over a period.
No student will however be barred from attending classes even without the new uniforms, the statement says.
