Children of the Good Shepherd Orphanage in Akwatia, Eastern Region have received Personal Protective Equipment support over the weekend.
The support, made possible by the Bless The Orphan Child Foundation (B.O.C.F) in partnership with Books Without Borders Inc. based in the USA.
According to organizers, this move became necessary as way to augment the heavy burden that has been put on government in the wake of the COVID-19 outbreak in Ghana.
“Our government can not do it all alone since no one is immune to the deadly virus hence our collective support” shared Mr. Edward Hammond-Adjinku, founder , B.O.C.F.
As part of the relief outreach, the orphanage home received items such as Veronica washing buckets, Hand tissues, hand sanitizers, liquid soaps , locally made face masks and a cash donation for their other expenses .
Bless The Orphan Child Foundation (B.O.C.F) has been in operation for the past 4 years as a registered Non-Profit entity that aims at helping to provide orphans , street children and the underserved with quality education which they believes is “an enabler and great contributor to everyone’s success at every point in their lives whether formal or non-formal”

Over the years, they have been able to support orphanages in the country with relief projects such as supporting to build a three unit classroom block for orphans and children of the ‘Hearts of the Father Outreach Orphanage’ at Ningo-Prampram ,Rafiki Satellite Orphanage Home, Winneba; Osenase Orphanage Home in the Eastern Region as well as one with the person’s with disability at the University of Education’s Winneba campus.
On their part , Books Without Borders Inc. based in the United States Of America is a Non-Profit owned by Nicholas Buamah, a nine year old best-selling author, entrepreneur and student who broke the internet a year ago with his book, ‘Kayla and Kyle; The Walking Dictionaries’. The aim of the foundation especially for Ghana is to build libraries and computer laboratories across the country.

Having been able to reach out to Ghana with stationeries support already their plans to reach out to some schools and libraries in Ghana this year has been frustrated by the COVID-19 pandemic as travelling to and from parts of the world has been suspended.
In an interview with ghanaquest.com, Mr. Buamah revealed “we had made plans to work with this NGO to help sponsor a school with books for their library and hopefully a computer lab. Since our time frame has now changed because of the Covid-19, we still wanted to help. When the NGO mentioned this initiative we immediately wanted to be a part of it”.
