A member of the Conventions Peoples Party and a private legal practitioner, Mr. Gyantuah has called on the government to do more to bring the individuals involved in the murder of the late investigative journalist who worked closely with Anas Aremyaw Anas and Tige-Eye PI, Ahmed Hussein Suale to book.
Speaking on Starr FM’s morning Starr today, he said that looking at the works done so far as this case is concerned one could say that much has not been done concerning the issue.
Being about a year ago this incident happened, Mr Gyantuah said he is concerned as to whether we were going to get results on this matter even though bodies like the National Media Commission have continuously been on this matter.
“It’s the beginning of the year and for me there are so many things that should have been resolved from last year which is still opened; one of them is Ahmed Suale’s case. And I don’t understand why up till date, we don’t even have one semblance of who the perpetrators are, the reasons why he was gruesomely killed the way he was killed and what the security services are doing about it…And so at this point, as to where we are now; fact that nothing has happened presupposes that down the road it has been swept under the carpet because I don’t think that much has been done so far” he said
He also said that there the police and other security services to apt their game as there are a lot of people in the country who also suffer such deaths as it could happen to anybody.
Mr. Gyantuah said that there are state institutions like parliament, the police and the executive which must do more on this matter by pushing to get the issues therein addressed calling on the Ghanaians to put “pressure on the security services to find a solution to this matter”.
Speaking on the same issue, Mr. Korku Mawuli Nenegbe, a member of the NDC’s communications team, said that the death of the late Ahmed Hussein Suale is a big loss to the nation adding that “his (Late Ahmed Suale) headed by Anas Aremyaw Anas have committed to the well being of this country. And in the course work, he has made it that he was going to fight corruption and I am saying that to have somebody who will commit all the risk associated with the job say he will do it to die in the course of his work, well I am saying that it has to be written ono his tomb that he has died under the supervision of a government to fight corruption..”
According to him, President Akuffo-Addo has failed in his promise to fight corruption by this although he said he will fight it using the “Anas way”. He believes that as it state of corruption as it stands now is so endemic saying that “today, the Anas principle itself is under attack. Those who are using this principle itself are endangered species and we are looking on”.
