A horn hooting demonstration will be held on Tuesday in support of PNC chairman, Bernard Monarh.
This follows his invitation to the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) of the Ghana Police Service for interrogation concerning some comments he made in relation to the Electoral Commission’s compilation of a new electoral roll that they will resist.
Running under the hashtag #IstandbyMB, the activity dubbed ‘Hoot Your Horns’ will come off at 12 noon where horns will be hooted continuously for ten minutes.
Ever since the EC took to compiling a new voters’ register, some opposition political parties forming the Inter-party Resistance Against the New Voters’ Register have called on the commission to rescind its decision as there was no need for a new roll.

The commission has however maintained its position of compiling the new voters’ roll even in the wake of the COVID-19 outbreak in Ghana. It has brought out measure that will be enforced to ensure that preventive measures and protocols will be maintained during the registration process.
It is in response to this move after many months of going back and forth with the issue that Mr. Monarh on some platforms said that if Electoral commission still insists on compiling the register, they will resist any such attempts.

He is quoted to have said “…people who are already Ghanaians are already registered are going to be taken out of the voters’ register, don’t you think confusion will come at the registration station and if confusion come there, you think the EC staff will be safe, we will beat each other there, we will kill each other there if that is what the EC want to lead this nation to”.
Mr. Monarh has however maintained that his statement is for the electoral commission to take caution as he believes they are taking the country on a “perilous path”.
