Vice-President of the republic, Dr. Mahamadu Bawumia has affirmed that he us ready and willing to run for a re-election bid as the running mate of President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo in the upcoming 2020 Presidential Elections.
Speaking at the party’s National Executive Council Meeting at the Alisa Hotel earlier today, Mr. Bawumia said he was aware of the responsibility that has been bestowed upon him to serve the country.
“I am therefore acutely aware of the sacred responsibility that has once again been entrusted in me by the president, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo and our great party. It is a responsibility I will execute with utmost integrity, respect for our elders, members of our party and members of other political parties. Mr. Chairman, I associate myself with the views of my boss, President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo that politics is a call to service. It is about serving your country and delivering concrete results that improve the welfare of your fellow citizens without selfishness, dedication, honesty, transparency and with the utmost integrity. I believe that an opportunity to serve Ghana is an opportunity and a privilege to serve all Ghana regardless of ethnicity, gender, religion, education, income and so on” he said.

Touting the policies implemented by his government Dr. Bawumia said they have done really well. According to him, the NPP-led government has not only chalked a 78% success in delivering on their promises but have also performed much better than what he called “an incompetent alternative”.
An emphasis was put especially on his digitization agenda which he described as the future of this country as it holds a lot of opportunities especially with the fact that it has reduced corruption.

“Many people have wondered why we have taken such an interest in digitization. The answer is simple; we are thinking about the future and digitization holds the key to the future in boosting economic growth, efficiency of service delivery in public sector, reduction of corruption, transparency and accountability” he said.
He went further to hit on the need for the government to be re-elected to do more in their bid to truly set Ghana beyond aid.
“Ladies and gentlemen, it is therefore important that we stay the course and not play ‘Chaskele’ with the econnomy. Incompetent economic management has major consequences…Mr. Chairman, we have done a lot in the past 3 and half years but there is still a lot more to do to realize the vision of the president Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo” he said.

“The goal as set out by the president is a Ghana beyond aid. It is to build a modern, prosperous and self-reliant nation which leaves no one behind. We have started putting in place the building blocks and systems” he added.
