The NDC’s parliamentary candidate for the Ayawaso West Wuogon constituency, John Dumelo has asserted that he will grab the seat from the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP) with a 54% vote margin.
Irrespective of the fact that the NPP has been ruling for 19 years in Ayawaso West Wuogon for 19 years, John Dumelo explained that NDC over the years have significantly closed the vote gap as compared to the constituencies like Bantama, Ejisu and Mampong, and therefore his constituency is far from being described as a safe seat for the NPP.
“I disagree with people saying that it [Ayawaso West Wuogon] is traditionally NPP. We won in 1992 and 1996, but we have come close to winning it, especially in 2012. In 2004 and 2008 we came close to winning it.”

“This is not like some Bantama seat, or a Mampong or an Ejisu seat that we know to be traditionally NPP. The Ayawaso West Wuogon is a seat we are going to win. I am not going to win it, it is the NDC that is going to win it,” he said.
Speaking on Citi TV’s Face to Face program, the Actor cum Politician said he expects to win the seat with, a margin of 54.
John Dumelo however, argued that the constituency has retrogressed in the past few years hence the need for a leader who genuinely has the needs of constituents at heart and not only during elections.
