Member of parliament and Board Chair of the Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital, Dr. Bernard Okoe-Boye has assured Ghanaians of the government’s commitment to protecting citizens against spread of the novel coronavirus.
Speaking on the Kokrookoo morning show, Friday, he said n their commitment to effectively control spread of the disease, government in making considerations in these times when people are calling for a national lockdown puts the interest and needs of the Ghanaian population as top priority.
“…Some people are saying President Akuffo-Addo should be careful not to put the economy above people but in real terms, president is putting people above people. When he says, he’s considering how people who do not have water will fare, it’s not because of how the economy will fare he does that…considerations such as how people who rely on daily incomes to live is all about people. So I’ll plead, there is no one in this government who prioritizes production and growth rate above our lives and this government is committed to whatever it takes” he said, adding that in his interaction with the chief of staff some three-four days ago, she said government is committed even if it had to spend over 1oo million dollars because there is no price tag on human life.
Accordiing to him, although the rates in Ghana are going up, we must be able to stick to preventive measures as that is a sure way of controlling the disease encouraging citizens to stay at home unless they are making such important steps as visiting the market to re-stock or going to the hospital.

Dr.Bernard Okoe Boye who was very confident that the will go very soon added that the preventive protocols established to help aren’t isolated to coronavirus only but every other sickness.
“And finally Bra. Kwame, I’m confident that the Covid will go very soon like SARS and MERS but covid protocols like handwashing and avoiding handshakes must stay with us forever because these measures aren’t limited to corona but every other disease. A lot of diseases come about as a result of these habits. Cholera is oone of such, Typhoid and even Apollo is part. So corona will come and go but we must continue living with these measures” he said.
