Central Regional Police Command, has set up a five-member committee to look into the allegations leveled against the Assin Fosu Divisional Crime Officer DSP Daniel Dartey by the Assin Youth Association. My News Ghana has established.
In a press release dated 25 July 2019, the group accused the Assin Fosu Divisional Crime Officer, DSP Daniel Dartey, of using his outfit to assist fraudsters within the Assin Fosu municipality to perpetrate crime. The group also accused the police of extortion, some of which was captured in a video that went viral on social media. The police last week also freed an alleged fraudster after taken GH¢880.00 out of GH¢ 2000.00 charge.
The Regional police command, following this petition today, briefed the media at Assin Fosu on how they intend dealing with the allegations. The Central Regional Police Commander, COP Mr. Paul Awuni, addressing the press hinted that his outfit would ensure that the allegations are looked into and persons found culpable would be dealt with to serve as a deterrent for other officers. According to him, the five-member committee is given two weeks from 15th August 2019, to submit their report to the regional police command for necessary actions to be taken.
The five-member committee headed by the Central Regional Crime Officer, Chief Supt. Ruben Asiwoko also include; Detective Sergeant Mawuli Nyamasedor (Mankessim Divisional CID), Detective Chief Inspector William Addy (Station CID, UCC), DSP Robert Awampaga (Mankessim Divisional Crime Officer) and DSP Kenneth Kuntogli (Cape Coast Metro Crime Officer)
