Seating President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has said the 2020 elections will not disturb the peace of the country.
According to the President, though the political atmosphere was going to get “hotter and hotter”, that would in no way plunge the country into confusion.
His comments was in reaction to some news on social media, which sort to paint a negative picture about the country and describing it as a “high tension political terrain.”
Addressing some Ghanaians at a dinner organised by Ghana’s Permanent Mission to the United Nations, President Akufo-Addo reiterated that the country will continue to enjoy peace before, during and after the 2020 elections.
He noted that “as you can imagine, from now on as the elections beckon, the atmosphere is going to get hotter and hotter and more and more things are going to be said. ”
However, he urged Ghanaians in the Diaspora, who could not visit home to experience the peace the country is enjoying, to ignore those negative stories about Ghana, adding that it could sometimes be exaggerated.
