Ghana has been hit by a nationwide blackout. The outage was caused by a power surge in the grid which took out several generators. According a statement from the Ghana Grid Company Limited signed by Albert Kwesi Quainoo, Head of Public Relations
Frequent power outages a phenomenon affectional called “dumsor” is not new in Ghana. One of the major promises of President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo during the 20016 campaign was to fix the country’s unreliable power supply problem.
Though the power supply has recently been fairly consistent authorities believes the country is still ways away from having an adequate and uninterrupted power supply. According The Energy Minister, Boakye Agyarko the government has instituted measures to ensure uninterrupted electricity in the nation.
Meanwhile engineers from Ghana Grid Company Limited GRIDCo are working feverishly to restore power.
