General Secretary of the Peoples National Convention (PNC) has said that the issues concerning the compilation of a new voters’ register are such that the country must take very serious and address.
According to him, anyone who knows what the issues are with the current register and seeks for Ghana’s well being will call for a new register.
Speaking on Kwame Sefa Kayi’s Kokrokoo Morning Show on Peace Fm today, Mr. Atik who also dabbles as the leader of the Mass Action Committee (MAC) said the agenda of the MAC is not necessarily to support the compilation of a new voters register but rather for the sustainability of Ghana’s democracy which many have toiled for in the past for us to get this far.

“It is not about pushing the agenda, it is about pushing for the sustenance of our democracy, chairman. Because if you are privy to the facts as we have or as we are, and you truly want Ghana’s well being, there’s only one conclusion you’ll come to. That is what is driving us. That is what we are seeking to help with because chairman, it took the toil and sweat of some people to make our democracy” he said, adding that there will be no country to rule if we sacrifice our democracy.
The PNC General Secretary made these known as he talked about the Mass Action Committee’s visit to former president Kufuor yesterday whiles calling on parties forming the Inter-Party Resistance Against New Voters Register (IPRAN) use the appropriate forum to vindicate their claims if they feel strongly about their claims.

Atik’s Mass Action Committee (MAC) is a a group that has added their voice on the matter of the new voters’ register to be compiled by the electoral commission in April this year based on the fact that there is the need for it at this moment. Yesterday, they visited former president John Agyekum Kufuor to sought his advise on the best way to go as a country concerning this matter.
In the coming days, Atik says they look forward to meeting with former presidents John Mahama and Jerry Rawlings on the same matter. They will be meeting the National Peace Council on this same matter come Monday.
