The National Executive Council of the incumbent NPP will today, Wednesday, June 3, to fix a date for the party’s parliamentary primaries in constituencies with sitting Members of Parliament (MPs).
The NPP party had initially scheduled to elect its prospects in these constituencies on April 25, however, that had to be canceled because of the ban on public events to consist of and stop the spread of the novel coronavirus- COVID-19 pandemic.
The Council, according to a trusted source, would go over the techniques for the conduct of the elections.
The conference begins the heels of the phased easing of restrictions– to re-open the country by President Akufo-Addo.
The President in his 10th address to the country on the nation’s COVID-19 situation, stated some celebrations– church services, conferences, and meetings of not more than 100 people, could be held.
The source stated the celebration would make sure that whatever done was consistent with safety and preventive procedures.

The decision to suspend the party’s primaries was taken at a National Steering Committee conference held on Tuesday, April 14.
Meanwhile, the New Patriotic Celebration (NPP) is considering electronic voting for its parliamentary primaries in the 168 constituencies where the party has sitting Members of Parliament (MPs).

The Director of Research and Elections of the NPP, Evans Nimako, told the Daily Graphic that the party was thinking about various choices to ensure that the parliamentary primaries occurred without a hitch.
