Nana Addai Ampedua II, Paramount Queen Mother of the Bowiri Traditional Area, in the Biakoye District of the Oti Region, has appealed to the people to promote unity and peace for development.
In a speech during a recent town meeting, she urged her people to “get past any ill feeling against one another, and let peace be maintained for us to forge ahead in unity, happiness and progress.” The paramount queen mother made the call to patriotism at her installation at Bowiri Amanfrom, the traditional seat of Bowiri Kingdom, which consists of 15 towns.
The Omanhemaa further cautioned against disunity because it retarded development, and urged the indigenes, both home and abroad, to visit their communities regularly and contribute to development. She pledged to operate an ‘open door’ policy, saying “I would welcome advice and support from you without discrimination. My doors are always opened to all of you irrespective of anyone’s background.”
Nana Ampedua II, said she was aware of the enormous responsibilities the position of paramount queen mother imposes on her, but assured the people that “with determination and God’s guidance, I would strive to serve you well and to attain success during my reign.”
She thanked the chiefs and people for accepting her to be part of leaders of the traditional area, and appealed to “all hands to be on deck for progress.”
The Krontihene of Bowiri Traditional Area, Okatakyie Nana Tuaprem Amenfi III, asked the people to support the chiefs to fulfil their mandate.
He advised the people to “refrain from lukewarm attitude or sitting on the fence to watch a few people to champion the development of the area. We need peace and unity. With unity, there is nothing we as a people cannot achieve.”
Nana Amenfi, referring to Luke 11.28, said “God remains the Omnipotent and you should worship and accept Him into your lives.”
