Ghanaian boxer Richard Oblitey Commey lost to American Robert Easter Jr in the vacant international Boxing Federation (IBF) Lightweight title at the Santander arena in Pennsylvania (USA).
In a highly competitive bout, the Ghanaian boxer showed great promise by matching his counterpart in- front of the home crowd who had thrown their weight behind Robert Easter throughout the 12 rounds.
Commey (24-1,22Kos) floored his opponent in the 8th round with a powerful right hand punch.
Easter (17-0,14 KO’s) also threw some few decent punches at the Ghanaian who had dominated the entire second half of the bout despite a slow start in the early stages.
After 12 rounds of fears action the judges scored the bout (115-112E, 114-113C, 114-113E) in favor of Robert Easter Jr.
The 28-year-old Ghanaian boxer (Commey) has a rich record having won the Ghanaian lightweight title, International Boxing Federation (IBF) Continental Africa lightweight title, African Boxing Union (ABU) lightweight title, International Boxing Federation (IBF) Inter-Continental lightweight title, and Commonwealth lightweight title.
