In November 2019, popular american talk show ‘The Steve Harvey Show’, gave the world another spectacular appearance from an 8 year old who was then an already published author.
He had made [and still making] big sales with a best selling book on Amazon. His book ‘Kayla and Kyle; The Walking Dictionaries’ has also been accepted into the library of Congress, the legislative body of the United States of America.
The interesting thing about this 8 year old genius is that he is a Ghanaian. He goes by the name Nicholas Buamah and when asked the goals he had set for himself, he quotes one saying “to donate some books to take to Ghana to give to their schools and libraries..”. The goal was to donate a total of 555 books to schools and libraries in Ghana.
Although he is yet to come to Ghana in the summer (June-July thereabout), pupils in Ghana have already benefited the good reads from Nicholas.
In an exclusive interview with the now 9 year old Ghanaian genius, ghanaquest.com finds out that the COVID-19 pandemic might come in the way of this planned visit to donate books to the schools and libraries that were to benefit.
“We were scheduled to be in Ghana in June but now we’re not sure. We hope to still make it this summer to visit school’s and bring books” he said
In spite of this however, he is still optimistic that this visit happen as hopes of being able to travel by July are still up.
The COVID-19 disease has in no way served as a deterrent to the love for his roots. Already, plans are far advanced for some orphans to receive support from Nicholas’ non-profit organization. Dubbed ‘COVID-19’ project, the initiative aims at supporting orphanage homes with essentials like gloves, nose and face masks and sanitizers needed to help prevent one from contracting the disease. On the 17th of May, the Good Shepherd Orphanage in the Eastern Region’s Akwatia will be first to benefit from this initiative.
This will be made possible through the collaborative efforts of ‘Bless the Orphan Child Foundation’ their partners here in Ghana.
Born in the year 2011, Nicholas Buamah is a 9 year old Ghanaian author born to parents Danielle and Dominic Buamah. They are based in Sneiville, Georgia in the United States of America. Nicholas has a dream to attend the prestigious Massachusetts Institute of Technology and come out as a mechanical engineer. He however had another goal in his appearance on the Steve Harvey Show. He shared in addition to getting every book of his in every elementary school in the United State that “…and another one is to get enough subscribers for my Youtube channel”. On this channel, he does a 30 seconds word, explains it and teaches you how to use the word.
Nicholas and his foundation, ‘Books Without Borders Inc.” are also calling on you and I to make this drive even more successful by donating.
At the young age of 9, Nicholas is making money, inspiring many, touching lives and most importantly is very proud of his Ghanaian roots.
Donate now to help Books Without Borders Inc. achieve its dream of building libraries and computer labs in all 16 regions. Be a part of this!!
