Reports form Brong Ahafo region of Ghana say a fallen tree has killed or injured several students taking a swim at Kintampo water falls located about 414 kilometers aware from the nations capital Accra. According to reports at least 19 people are confirmed dead 16 of which have been identified as students. Most of the injured were rushed to Kintampo and Techiman
Those identified include thirteen from student from Methodist Senior High School, three from the University of Energy and Natural Resources and three local residents.
A government delegation led by the Vice President Mahamudu Bawumia which included Minister of Tourism Catherine Afeku, the has visited the area to offer the government’s sympathy and condolences to the relatives of the dead as well the chiefs and people of Kintampo.
He promised the relatives to the that the government will provide for the burial of the those killed and urged resident to remain calm and allow authorities to investigate the tragedy.
