Zambian Vice President, Inonge Wina has arrived in Accra, Ghana for tomorrow’s (Monday) 60th Independence celebrations.
Mrs Wina arrived at Kotoka International Airport at 13:53 hors local time.
She was received at the airport by Ghanaian counterpart Mahamadu Bawumia, and his Minister of Gender, Children and Social Protection, Otiko Afisa-Djaba.
Acting Zambia’s High Commissioner to Ghana, Roland Mwansa, led the Zambian staff at the Commission in receiving the Vice president at the airport.
Mrs Wina was accorded a 21 gun-salute by the Ghanaian Defence Forces after inspecting the guard of honour.
The Vice President was later driven to Alisa Hotel where she also briefly addressed Zambians resident in Accra whom she updated on what Zambia was doing to diversify the economy.
Mrs Wina emphasised that the government was promoting agricultural diversification and value-addition.
She encouraged Zambian women resident in Ghana to learn from their Ghanaian counterparts to enterprise and invest in businesses and education for their children.
She will be among several invited dignitaries and Heads of State to witness Ghana’s 60th Independence Anniversary under the new President, Nana Akufo-Ado, who was elected on December 7, last year and sworn in in January, this year.
